Special Lecture: Indonesia – A Rising Middle and Global Power?

Is Indonesia a new star to watch? Can this huge and rising economy be an equal match to powers like India, China or Brazil? Will it confirm her one-time status of a regional power? Is Indonesia´s democracy feasible, given its corruption, money politics and the growing pressures of the largest Muslim population? What are Indonesia´s major contributions to the world, what hinders its greater impact to global affairs? Where is Asia´s third giant heading?

On June 12, 4pm, these and other questions related to Indonesia and its position on the international scene will be addressed by Dr. Tomáš Petrů, a Prague-based Indonesianist. The event takes place in Seminarraum Ostasienwissenschaften 1 UniCampus Hof 5 2I-O1-05 and starts at 4 pm.
