East Asianists and the Job Market is an initiative taken by the team of East Asian Economy and Society to improve the employability of students in East Asian Studies by offering a chance for an active exchange with former graduates and practitioners. In our next meeting, three graduates of East Asian Studies share their experiences on entering the job market and reflect on chances and risks.

Dr. Parissa Haghirian
Parissa Haghirian is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Liberal Arts at Sophia University in Tokyo since April 2006. She obtained her Master’s in Japanese Studies from Vienna University (1998) and was awarded a Master’s Degree (2000) and PhD in International Management (2003) from Vienna University of Economics and Business Administration.  She has taught undergraduate, graduate and MBA level classes on the subject of Japanese business practices consulted with numerous Western and native Japanese companies in Tokyo.

Manfred Steinkellner
Manfred Steinkellner has lived and worked in China for more than three years. Being fluent in Mandarin, knowing both the Chinese society and its business culture well, and having a large network in China, China has become his second home. He accompanies and supports companies wishing to do business in China. In his intercultural trainings, Manfred Steinkellner equips his customers with valuable knowledge and examples from real life.

Mag. Carina Turbon
Carina Turbon is an intercultural coach and trainer. Her skills lie in facilitating the development of intercultural competence and are the result of years of experience. She has been working as a consultant and a trainer for ten years and as a coach since 2007.  Her work has so far taken her to some 30 different countries on four continents.
